Katina has been a practicing therapist in Saint John for 20 years. She holds a Masters of Education in Counselling as well as a Bachelor of Social Work degree. She is a registered Social Worker in good standing with the NB Association of Social Workers as well as a Licensed Therapist with the College of Licensed Counselling Therapists of New Brunswick. Throughout her early practice, Katina realized that she works very well with children, youth and families. She has a knack to connecting with these populations in such a way that allows them to feel heard and valued regardless of their circumstances. Over the years, she developed a strong passion for vulnerable people impacted by sexual violence. Katina feels strongly there is a need in our community to have specialized services for children, youth and adults who are survivors of sexual abuse/assault. Katina has taken advanced training in sexual abuse treatment and is heavily involved in local and national associations/groups advocating for the rights of individuals affected by sexual abuse. Katina is highly regarded within the professional community and recognized in her work with children and survivors of sexual abuse. Katina has held a leadership role at Family Plus since 2009 as Clinical Manager. When asked what Katina loves most about working at Family Plus she says, “It is the people. I love that Family Plus is an organization that fosters collaboration and flexible work culture allowing us to service clients in a client-centered way”.
